What You Can Expect From Karim Chan

Hi! My name is Karim, a first year Mathematics undergraduate at University College London (UCL). I completed my GCSEs and A levels at Eton College, where I was an academic scholar, achieving 11 A*s at GCSE and A*A*A*A at A level in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics respectively. I specialise in tutoring Mathematics and Further Mathematics up to A level as well as the Test of Mathematics for University Admissions (TMUA), in which I achieved a score of 8.9 - placing me in the top 3% of all candidates.

Over the past three years, I have tutored students across a wide range of ages and abilities - from Year 7 pupils preparing for UKMT challenges up to A level students aiming for top grades. My teaching style is structured yet adaptable: I focus on developing a strong conceptual understanding before applying that knowledge through tailored problem-solving. During sessions, I quickly identify and address any gaps in understanding with clear explanations, guided practice, and personalised feedback.

My sessions are designed to be engaging and effective, ensuring students leave each lesson with a stronger grasp of the material and a clear plan for independent progress between sessions. Beyond improving grades, my goal is to spark genuine enthusiasm for the subject and help students develop both a problem-solving mindset and a solid foundation to build on in their future studies.
