I’m Neil Hedge, a qualified secondary teacher with a Mathematics degree from the University of Hull and a PGCE from the University of Manchester. I specialise in GCSE preparation and academic enrichment, helping students move beyond rote learning to develop genuine mastery, confidence, and curiosity in their subjects.
My teaching experience spans state schools, online tutoring platforms, and private education. Over the years, I’ve worked with learners from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4, with a particular emphasis on students aiming to secure strong grades in GCSE Maths and English. I’ve also helped students prepare for entrance exams and selective school interviews, incorporating broader skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and verbal reasoning.
What sets my tutoring apart is my dual focus: I support students to achieve excellent results while enriching their learning beyond the exam syllabus. Whether it's exploring higher-level problem-solving strategies, developing structured writing techniques, or tackling exam anxiety, I tailor every session to the needs and ambitions of the learner.
I’ve worked successfully with students of all abilities—including those seeking stretch and challenge, those needing foundational support, and those with additional learning needs. I aim to foster a growth mindset and build lasting academic confidence through structured planning, engaging teaching, and continuous feedback.
Outside of tutoring, I contribute to educational resource development and enjoy staying up to date with curriculum changes and innovative pedagogy.
If you're looking for a GCSE tutor who combines academic rigour with a supportive, motivational approach—whether to improve exam performance or enrich your child’s educational journey—I’d be delighted to help.
