A patient tutor with a clear delivery style that can assist in both human and physical geography, from primary through GCSE, A Level and Degree education.

As a Dr of geography my own research blended human and physical as a way of exploring landscape, and I have a wide ranging knowledge of the discipline. I am also a published academic with 2 papers in peer reviewed journals.

I spent 2 years as an academic tutor with Aberystwyth University where I helped prepare first year undergraduates for the subsequent years of their degree programs. I would set and assess work, providing valuable feedback and talking them through where they excel and where improvements can be made. Primarily my aim was to teach research and study skills, referencing and writing techniques, as well as assisting with critical thinking, essay preparation and project design.

I am also well placed to assist with more curriculum based studies at GCSE and A Level with specialisations in landscape, cultural geography, sense of place, globalisation, fluvial geographies, glaciology, plate tectonics, meteorology and climate change.

Initially we will discuss the education program you are on, where you are in your studies and with which aspects you feel you need help. A course of study will then be designed to address this which we can work through.

I am incredibly passionate about the importance of geography as a subject particularly in the light of climate change, threats to biodiversity and geopolitical changes. But also from theoretical points of view as ways of understanding and appreciating the complexities of the world and enhancing our world-view.
